An international award winning scholar, performer, and pedagogue, Dr. Mira Kruja holds the rank of Professor at Alabama A&M University, where she teaches Advanced Piano, Piano Pedagogy, Piano Literature, Advanced Keyboard Techniques, and Music Theory.
She is the author of the scholarly book Art Music for the Piano: Twentieth-Century Composers, Masterworks, and Styles and the piano manual Contemporary Piano Techniques, published in conjunction with the CD Twentieth Century Technical Exercises. Her classical CD Æterna was rated first of the top five best CDs. Her electronic publication Piano Inside Out: The Expansion of the Expressive, Technical, and Sonorous Spectrum in Selected Twentieth-Century Art-Music Repertoire for the Modern Acoustic Piano won the International Award for Innovation in Sydney, Australia. According to the Awards Committee Chair, Mr. John Hagen, "Dr. Kruja’s exemplary work has created a unique model of digital media research that will encourage further endeavors in this area. Her efforts have improved graduate education and raised the standard of scholarship on a global scale. Dr. Kruja’s work will provide a clear road for others to follow".

Dr. Kruja is a frequent adjudicator for international and national piano competitions. On demand as a performer, lecturer, and clinician Dr. Kruja has presented at prestigious professional events including the International Conference of the European Piano Teachers Association in Luzern, Switzerland, Europe; International Conference on Contemporary Performing Arts in Leibnitz, Austria, Europe; International Conference on Multidisciplinary Research on Music Pedagogy in Ottawa, Canada, International Conference on Education, Economy, and Society in Paris, France, Europe, International Conference on Education in Honolulu, Hawaii; World Piano Pedagogy Conference in the United States of America; College Music Society National and Regional Conferences in the USA, Alabama Music Teachers Association Conference, and Alabama Music Educators Association Conferences. She has been invited to deliver a peer-reviewed presentation at the International Congress of Humanities and Social Sciences Research in Paris, France, Europe in Summer 2012.
